Yes, There is a Bootie to Flatter Your Calves

booties-flatter-calvesIf you read my post on Monday, you know that I believe that us ladies with “athletic” or “well-endowed” calves can wear booties – even with skirts and bare legs!  It’s all a matter of finding the right booties to fit your look and your lifestyle.  Here are my top 5 tips for choosing the best booties to flatter your legs:

  1. Nude always elongates legs.
  2. Opt for a curve at the top of the vamp to create the illusion that your legs are longer
  3. Don’t pick a boot that has a higher ankle since it will cut off your calf right where it starts to get bigger making them look, well, bigger.
  4. Keep things monochromatic to create a long-leg look – read: wear black tights or pants with black boots for a more flattering look.
  5. If you want to go flat, make sure you are accentuating the smallest part of your leg – your ankle – and choose  a bootie that shows that off

I’m really lucky that I not only have the best in-laws, but that they also live near what I think this the most amazing T.J. Maxx around.  And trust me, I’ve scoured the racks of a lot of T.J. Maxx stores.  The one near their home in New Jersey is worth a pilgrimage with it’s wall (like really, an entire wall) of designer shoes, a case of purses (even still-in-stores Fendi totes!), and a huge Runway section.  I don’t know why I’m telling you all this since I don’t really want to share my mecca of designer deals.  I guess I’m feeling extra generous lately.  But for those of you who can’t dedicate a weekend or a small vacation to visiting my store, you’ll be absolutely thrilled to find out that T.J. Maxx is back in the online retail game!  I don’t know if this is the best or worst thing to happen to me (I’m thinking best for me, worst for my monthly shopping budget).  Here are a few of my favorites available now.

Inspiration / Realization: Chic Moto Boots

Inspiration - Realization - moto boots

One thing on my list to buy this fall are a pair of moto-inspired boots.  Since traditional moto boots aren’t the most flattering choice for my legs, I want to get a pair like this gorgeous Rag & Bone pair.  They are both sophisticated and edgy and the perfect complement to my wardrobe.  While I’m waiting for a gift card, discount code or some act of divinity to make the Rag & Bone pair fit into my monthly shopping budget, I found some very chic options for under $200.  So acts of god aside, a pair of boots with buckles is in my future, I just know it.
