We’re having a few friends over for dinner tomorrow night and of course I have “nothing to wear.” I want something chic and comfortable that allows me to cook, entertain and chase after a wild toddler. And, as is usual, it’s the end of the month and most of our budget has gone to holiday shopping so it has to also be affordable. Enter the mall down the street from me with an H&M, Macy’s, JC Penny, Kohl’s and Forever 21. Not sure if I’ll get a chance to go, but if I do, here’s I have my eye on to purchase for the occasion. Which one do you like the best?
I am so bummed to be missing the first snow today in NYC! I’m travelling for work and just dealing with the inevitable rain in Washington State while wishing it was cold enough for that pretty white cotton sprinkle. I’m missing home so much more now and all I can think about is how great it would be to sit in front of a fire with some hot cocoa and a great movie. So it’s no surprise that my current Fair Isle style crush makes you think of snuggling up in a cabin in the woods. It’s so cozy yet stylish and evokes the feeling of sitting around a warm fire with family. There are so many adorable options right now that I don’t even know where to start. Maybe with some socks and I’ll work my way up. Stay warm!
(Side note, sorry this post is late. Between my late flight and the time difference, it’s a wonder I’m even up right now!)
I saw this picture of Jessica Alba and had a moment of part inspiration part insatiable desire to recreate the look but in a different way that would be flattering on me and relevant for fall. Ever since, I’ve been hunting for a great full midi skirt and cropped sweater. I’m a new mom, and while my midsection used to be a source of pride and any moment to wear a bikini top was not left with modesty, it’s just not the same as it used to be. I wanted to recreate this look but in a way that someone like me, who doesn’t have a full-time trainer to get me to back to pre-baby shape and who has a full-time job and little to no time to work out, could pull off. The trick is finding a sweater that is both cropped but long enough to not actually show any skin and a skirt that is midi but doesn’t hit at the widest part of my calf and will make my legs look bigger. Such a delicate balance! After endless hours of online shopping, I have found that this combination is not easy to find but I did get three options that I’m currently vetting to wear to Lucky FABB next week. I can’t wait to spend a few days with awesome bloggers and fashion mavens, learn and absorb as much fabulousness as I can. Of course I’ll give a full report afterward. In the meantime, I’ll keep searching for the perfect outfits for those two days.
