Black & White Stripes

It’s a veritable heat wave here!  With temperatures close to 70 degrees it is not feeling a lot like Christmas.  But it is feeling like a nice day to go to the playground so that’s what we did.  And I wore one of my favorite playground ensembles that takes me easily for a bite to eat on the way home.  I was happy to bring the boyfriend jeans out of the close and not have to bundle up in boots and socks.  But I’m ready for temps to go down and still holding out hope for a white Christmas!

An Amazing Deal

Monday’s are tough, aren’t they?  I had a great weekend though and I hope you did too.  So, at least I get a chance to bask in the glow of two glorious days off in a row; however, heading back to work can be like getting tossed on cold cement.

I got a few minutes this weekend to flip through People StyleWatch for a little wardrobe inspiration.  I stumbled upon this picture of the new style “It Girl” Lily Collins rocking a killer moto vest with boyfriend jeans and a feminine blouse and I immediately started searching for the ultimate translation for me.  My criteria: a more fitted moto vest so that I don’t accentuate my hips and look larger, and a sweet collarless blouse, all for a reasonable price.

I did a lot of online research and finally stumbled to the mall.  After browsing a few stores, I landed at H&M but wasn’t hopeful I’d find the perfect fit, in my size and within my budget.  Boy was I wrong.  Not only did I find this gem, it was on super sale.  And the blouse happened to be marked down too.  With the use of a $10 store credit, I walked out of there only spending $10.  I seriously feel a little guilty about it.  But at least it’s one of those things I can bask in the glow of on this manic Monday.

Have you found any amazing deals lately?

Saturdays In the Park

Embellished sweatshirts are all the rage right now, and with good reason.  Who doesn’t want to to wear a sweatshirt and feel like they aren’t shlumping around town.  I know I do!  I found it hard to get the right amount of flair on my sweatshirt so I opted for a different take – the accessorized sweatshirt.  This is the perfect look for a weekend at the park as I was last Saturday wearing this outfit.  I got the sweatshirt on the cheap and added a fun necklace, my boyfriend jeans and essential leopard flats.  I was comfortable enough to get on the ground at Liberty State Park and play with my son, but dressy enough to sit at a fancy brunch.  Win, win!

Pear Shaped Pointer: A lot of the embellished sweatshirts are fitted.  Opt for a soft version that you can easily tuck in the front.  Or go up a size and go for the front tuck in to create a more sophisticated silhouette.  I’ve included some options below.

Sweatshirt: Old Navy (I also like this one, and this) / Jeans: Gap (Old. Similar here and here and read my pointers on finding boyfriend jeans here) / Necklace: J.Crew Factory / Flats: Manolo Blahnik (Old.  Similar here (splurge), here (mid range) and here (steal) / Bag: See by Chloe
