Inspiration / Realization: Chic Moto Boots

Inspiration - Realization - moto boots

One thing on my list to buy this fall are a pair of moto-inspired boots.  Since traditional moto boots aren’t the most flattering choice for my legs, I want to get a pair like this gorgeous Rag & Bone pair.  They are both sophisticated and edgy and the perfect complement to my wardrobe.  While I’m waiting for a gift card, discount code or some act of divinity to make the Rag & Bone pair fit into my monthly shopping budget, I found some very chic options for under $200.  So acts of god aside, a pair of boots with buckles is in my future, I just know it.

Style for the Well Endowed Calf

wide-calf-bootsMy athletic calves have been the source of many, many tears over the years.  I’ll never forget the Christmas my parents splurged and bought me the “extended calf” boots from J. Crew.  When I couldn’t zip them up, the waterworks started.  My dad wanted so badly to solve the problem that he offered to  have a pair custom made for me (I should’ve taken him up on it).  Ever since then I have searched high, low and everywhere in between for the right pair.  Luckily, there are so many more options now than there were that Christmas.  And us ladies with well endowed calves can find stylish boots that fit well!  Here are a few of my favorites.

Pear Shaped Pointer: You don’t always have to opt for boots with elastic to stretch to fit.  Many sites, including Zappos, allow you to search by calf size.  Use a measuring tape to measure the widest part of your calf and go find the right pair to fit.  If there’s just a smidge (½” or so) of difference between the ones you want and your actual calves, try going up a half or full size.  Calf size increases as shoes size increases. I’ve gone up a size and just worn thick socks to make boots more comfortable.  Some other great sites for finding extended calf boots include Nordstrom, Macy’s, Amazon and DSW

Mixing It Up: Theory Leather Trim Blazer Four Ways

Lanai blazer

I recently found this Theory blazer on sale at Nordstrom and was floored.  It’s still available full price at so many other retailers! And it’s my favorite style in the most flattering fit (also seen here in white)!  I had to invest (and subsequently hunt down more colors on ebay where I landed an emerald green version that is soon to be featured on the blog).  This blazer is so slimming, so flattering and so versatile that I know I will wear it a million ways to Wednesday.  Here are just a few of the options.  I can’t wait to show you how I’ve styled it!
