If you saw yesterday’s post with the fabulous Macey, you might recognize the backdrop from this shoot.  Not only did I make her model for me, I also utilized her photography skills to capture my outfit.  Her eye for style and my experimentation with Photoshop online tutorials brought these pics.

I think I’ve mentioned before that I love peplum.  And this sweater was in the back of my closet just waiting for the weather to cool off so it could come out.  I got this great necklace that looks like royal jewels when I was at Lucky FABB, and loved the way it dressed up an otherwise plain outfit.  Added my favorite skinnies and heels and an instant chic ensemble was made!

Pear Shaped Pointer: I recently decided that showing a little ankle was the most flattering way to wear skinnies so I had all my skinnies tailored.  I am so happy I did.  An inexpensive fix made a world of difference in making my legs look slimmer and cutting down that bunching at the bottom of my jeans.  Highly recommend you try the same!

Have a great weekend everyone!

A Little Inspiration

About six months ago I was having a much-needed brunch with my girlfriends.  The “my-six-month-old-is-home-so-bring-on-the-mimosas” kind of brunch that ends with a belly ache from laughing and lots of catching up.  After that lunch, my friend, a fellow working mom, texted me a picture of herself and said “thank you for not making me have to think about what to wear today.”  Her toddler was tugging at her shirt – the same one I wore the day before along with similar jeans, flats and accessories.  It was then I realized I should revisit the idea of starting a fashion blog (or restarting the one I half-started five years ago).  And it was all because of one simple go-to outfit of mine.

Cut to now and my revised version of that outfit, fresh with a new (smaller!) chambray shirt, new (smaller!) black skinnies, a different necklace and some booties, just in time for fall.  It feels so good to have such a cute, easy, and even inspiring outfit to turn to when I don’t want to think about what to wear.  And it helps that this outfit aids others in not having to think about what to wear either!

I was just thinking about how this year has literally flown by! In just a few short weeks fall will officially be upon us. During these transitional weeks, I find myself gravitating towards pieces that can work as the weather and seasons figures itself out. One of my fave pieces is this pair of printed pants that I picked up at TJ Max for $17. Great deal right? It has a great muted girly print that pairs perfectly with a variety of tops. For the late summer days, when the weather is still warm, I like to pair it with this sleeveless peplum top and pink bow peep-toe pumps. When picking out pieces that work with printed pants, stick to something simple and classic. Also, picking a color that’s present in the print will help to pull the outfit together. When the weather gets a bit chillier or if I’m going out in the evenings, all I do is toss on a nude sweater and change out my pumps for these awesome booties. The neutral tones in the sweater and shoes help to highlight the print. I kept my accessories simple since the pants are a little busy with this chunky locket necklace. Don’t be afraid of prints, it’s a great way to look polished and interesting even if you snoozed your alarm 4x and only had 10 minutes to get ready. That’s me on the daily.
