The Bomb Jacket

One thing I love about this blog is that it makes me take a hard look at my closet and figure out what to wear.  The biggest benefit?  I find things I haven’t worn in years and make them new again with a little styling fun.  Take this jacket.  It’s Anna Sui for Target circa 2009 (does that make it vintage?)  I haven’t worn it but a few times and it has sat in the back of my closet for at least three years.  Thankfully, it has lasted many a closet edit and I have never given it away or sold it on eBay because I am newly obsessed with it.  You could say it’s the bomb!  Take a look in your closet and see if there’s anything you can recycle next time you’re searching for something to wear.

Pear Shaped Pointer: For ladies with hips (like me) wearing a jacket that tapers in at the waist like a bomber jacket can be a dicey endeavor.  Paired with jeans, it’s likely to cut you off in just the wrong place.  Try pairing it with a flared skirt or over a dress like I am here for a more flattering look.

Happy Friday!  It’s officially two weeks away from Thanksgiving which means that holiday party season is almost upon us.  I love this time of year, especially because of the opportunity to get dressed up!  I think that a fancy dress with tights is adorable and my friend Lauren is modeling this skater style perfectly.

We had some fun playing dress up as we prepped for the myriad of soirees to be had this holiday season. This dress was one of our favorite looks.  Paired with tights and booties, it’s great for an office get together or even a New Year’s Eve celebration.  I’d pair it with a leopard coat like this to take the chill away and accessorize with a bright clutch like this.  I’m so excited for the holiday season!

Do you ever wonder if my style crushes every become a reality?  Well they do.  Especially when they are of the “can’t stop thinking about anything else” variety like last week’s post on leather skirts and cozy sweaters.  After the seemingly endless search for the perfect leather or faux leather skirts that I included in the round up, I finally landed on this one from Aritzia.  The faux leather is buttery soft and looks so real.  The fit is amazing and stretchy which means it needed no alterations and the length is perfect.

There’s something so chic about an all-black outfit.  And when you create so many texture variations, it goes from goth to gorgeous.  To make things better, this look has a retro-80s vibe that makes me think I can be Jamie Gertz in “Less Than Zero.”  Needless to say, this is quickly becoming my go-to outfit this fall (especially considering I’ve already worn it three times.  I’m serious.  Three times).
